Fundraising concert to raise money for St. Mary's sister parish in Tanzania

LANCASTER — There will be a fundraising concert this Saturday at St. Mary’s Emerald Campus in Lancaster with a Grammy nominee and Catholic Music Award winner.

Sarah Hart will be performing at 7 p.m. on Aug. 16 to raise money for the Bridges Ministry, a ministry of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption. They have a sister parish in Tanzania, and this will support efforts to help build schools, dorms and fresh drinking water.

“Our project in Tanzania is more than just constructing buildings; it’s about creating a brighter future for children who need a safe place to live and learn… giving them the stability they need to focus on their education and personal growth,” said on the ministry’s website.

Hart, who grew up in Lancaster, is a Grammy nominee, an American Library Association Odyssey Award winner and an Association of Catholic Publishers multi-award winner, according to her website. She also received the Catholic Music Award for the Best Album of the Year.

“I’m really looking forward to the concert, and it’s so great to be back in my hometown, singing and being with community,” said Hart.

Tickets are $25 each or $22.50 each when purchasing more than three tickets. The concert will be at the old location of St. Mark Catholic Church, 324 Gay Street, Lancaster.

Tickets can be bought here or at the church’s office at 132 South High Street. They are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but are closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
