Beto O’Rourke net worth: Financial disclosures indicate wealth during AG investigation

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has opened an investigation into whether Beto O’Rourke’s political organization, Powered by People, violated state laws by financing out-of-state travel for Texas Democrats in their effort to block the passage of Republican-backed congressional redistricting maps.

The attorney general accused the organization of running a financial influence scheme that convinced Texas Democrats to leave the state, and vowed to investigate “any Democrat coward breaking the law by taking a Beto Bribe,” the Texas Tribune reported.

According to financial disclosures and reporting from an El Paso Times article in 2019, Beto O’Rourke and his wife, Amy Sanders O’Rourke, have assets ranging from $3.5 million to over $16 million, with liabilities between $1.3 million and $5.7 million—mostly from real estate holdings.

O’Rourke founded Stanton Street Technology Group, a software company, in the late 1990s. His wife sold her stake in the company in 2017 for between $100,000 and $1 million. He also had ownership in Imperial Arms LLC, a real estate firm, and Peppertree Square Ltd., a shopping center valued between $2 million and $10 million, gifted by his mother.

The couple earned at least $340,000 in capital gains, rent, interest, dividends, and stock sales in 2017. Additionally, Amy O’Rourke holds a trust fund worth between $1 million and $5 million, inherited from her father, Bill Sanders, a real estate magnate estimated to be worth at least $500 million.
