Remember McDonaldland?
McDonaldland first opened its doors in 1971, where fans were introduced to special characters and explored the fantasy world filled with Apple Pie Trees, Hamburger Patches and Mt. McDonaldland.
For over 20 years, McDonaldland was featured in everything from games to movies, and the characters developed a devoted fan following, according to McDonald’s.
Now customers — new and old — can return to the magical land via the McDonaldland Meal, available for a limited time starting Aug. 12.
Here’s what you should know.
What is the McDonaldland Meal?
The meal includes a new Mt. McDonaldland shake, a side of fries, and either a Quarter Pounder with Cheese or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets.
McDonald’s said it’s up to you to discover the surprise flavor in the “secret concoction” shake, described as an ode to one of McDonaldland’s major landmarks. The shake’s colors represent blue lava and pink clouds.
When will the McDonaldland Meal be available?
The McDonaldland meal will join menus nationwide for a limited time starting Aug. 12.
McDonaldland merch available at Pacsun, Away
Every McDonaldland Meal comes with one of six exclusive collectible tins featuring postcards, stickers and more, each inspired by a different character.
McDonald’s also is collaborating with clothing retailer Pacsun and accessories retailer Away to promote McDonaldland.
Beginning Aug. 12, Pacsun will offer sweat sets and graphic tees “as colorful as McDonaldland itself.”
Beginning Aug. 18, Away will offer complimentary luggage tags and bag charms with any purchase, while supplies last, McDonald’s announced.

“There’s an entire magical world of McDonaldland filled with characters, places and lore. Over the past few years we’ve seen how fans flock to our characters, everyone from Grimace to the Hamburglar. But many, especially the new generation, don’t know that’s just the tip of the iceberg,” said Jennifer “JJ” Healan, McDonald’s vice president of U.S. Marketing, Brand, Content & Culture.
“For the first time in decades, we are taking fans on a trip to McDonaldland with an immersive experience that taps into the past to create the future. It’s a chance for us to give fans a new, modern way to experience this magical world.”
How many calories are in the McDonaldland Meal?
The number of calories in the McDonaldland Meal depends on what you get — you choose between the Quarter Pounder with Cheese or 10-piece McNuggets, — the size of the fries or shake you purchase, and what’s in the shake itself, which wasn’t posted on McDonald’s nutrition calculator as of Aug. 7.
