Chester man stabbed, choked in Warwick attack: What to know

A Chester man was stabbed and choked during an altercation in the Town of Warwick on July 22.

According to Town of Warwick Police, officers responded to a report of an assault on Crescent Avenue around 4:45 p.m. that day.

The 38-year-old victim told police he was involved in an altercation with the suspect, who was known to him. He was stabbed in the chest and also choked, he told police.

The victim, who was not further identified by police, initially was treated at St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick before being transferred to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

Police described his wounds as serious but not life-threatening.

The suspect, identified as Dylan Begnoche, 39, of Warwick, was taken into custody without incident.

Begnoche was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and obstruction of breathing, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned and sent to the Orange County jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bond or $250,000 partially secured bond, pending further court action.

The name of Begnoche’s attorney was not immediately available.
