A 17-year-old girl who died after crashing a vehicle into a tree in Hanover Township early on July 22 has been identified by the Butler County coroner.
The coroner has identified the teen as Alexa Miller of Liberty Township. The coroner has listed Miller’s preliminary cause of death as head trauma.
Miller also had a passenger, who officials have not identified.
The Lakota Local School District told Enquirer media partner Fox19 that both teens were enrolled at Lakota West High School.
Butler County Sheriff’s deputies and Ross Township Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the 2100 block of Ross Hanover Road just before 1:40 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
A 2014 Acura traveling westbound lost control and struck a tree on the left side of the road, according to the sheriff’s department.
The driver was declared dead at the scene. The passenger sustained serious injuries and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by air travel through CareFlight.
Speed is being investigated as a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
