A lot of excitement happened at the 14th annual Lofty Pursuits ice cream eating contest on July 20.
The 8 contestants in each division braved brain freeze as they fought to eat as much ice cream as they could in 3 minutes.
Last year’s champion in the 16 and older category, Michael Sheehan returned to defend his title. He said he spent the last year training by eating ice cream all the time, and it paid off with a second victory. Multiple time winner Sean Roane came in third this year, with a good show, pushing Michael and second place winner Jonah Salazar to their limits.
In the under 16 division it was all newcomers, but they fought like seasoned experts. Joe Cronan won with a narrow victory over second place Paxten Butler and third place contestant Otis Almon.
