State police said a preliminary investigation showed a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by Ronald Jubis, 78, of Marcy, was making an eastbound left turn from French Road onto Route 5. And at the same time, a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle, driven by David Humphrey II, 34, of Herkimer, was traveling westbound on Route 5 and struck the rear driver’s side door of the truck.

Humphrey was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

Jubis was transported to Wynn Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
