Texas A&M remains high on standout 2026 4-star wide receiver's list

After losing out on 2026 four-star wide receiver Ethan “Boobie” Feaster, Texas A&M’s 2026 WR class is still in great shape, knowing that four-star Aaron Gregory, Madden Williams, and Mike Brown are all firmly committed after shutting down their recruitment, slated to sign with the program on December 4.

Still, coach Elko and wide receiver coach Holmon Wiggins are looking to add at least one more wide receiver to the class, and one of the program’s recent visitors, four-star WR Jase Mathews, has reportedly narrowed down his options before ultimately making his decision. During a recent interview with Rivals’ Chad Simmons, Mathews included Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M as the final programs he will focus on before announcing his commitment date.

“I am really close to making a decison” Mathews stated to Rivals. “It is something I am thinking a lot about. My commitment should come before the season starts. I don’t have a date yet, but I am getting close.”

After his official visit to Texas A&M on June 13, Mathews noted that it’s “kind of a tie right now” concerning all four schools mentioned. While explaining how each program stands out, Mathews made sure to point out the strong relationship he has built with Elko and Wiggins after offering the Mississippi native.

“Texas A&M is definitely high on my list too” Mathews stated. “Coach Wiggins puts guys in the league and develops wide receivers.”

However, Auburn might be the leader based on Mathews’ quote, expressing his strong connection with Tigers WR coach Marcus Davis. Even considering his admiration for Auburn, LSU, and his first offer, Ole Miss, Texas A&M’s recruiting success can’t be ignored.

During his 2024 junior season at Greene County HS, Mathews reeled in 68 receptions for 1,138 yards and 15 touchdowns, by far his most productive season. According to Rivals, Mathews is the 68th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 11th-ranked wide receiver, and the 3rd-ranked prospect in Mississippi.
