Those heading to the University of Florida campus on July 3 for the annual Fanfares & Fireworks event are likely in for a treat — even if if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
Sue Wagner, communications manager for event sponsor WUFT, wrote in an email to The Sun that the show will go on even if it begins to rain.

“It will be paused or delayed if there is lightning in the area, but otherwise it will go on,” Wagner wrote. “Luckily, we have a covered stage.
The festivities are scheduled to run from 6 to 10 p.m. at Flavet Field with live music from Now Leaving Space, Sooza Brass Band, The Savants, and the Gainesville Community Band and Gainesville Pops.
Food trucks expected onsite include B’z Gelati, Mi Apa Latin Cafe, Monsta Lobsta, Honey Nitro + Cold Brea Coffee and Mayflower.
Fireworks are slated to begin at approximately 9:30.
According to Wagner, WUFT staff meteorologist Tim Miller will be on site to track the weather. Miller said he expects some storms the afternoon of July 3, but that the skies should be clear by about 7 p.m.
Wagner said if the event is canceled it will not be rescheduled.
“Due to the amount of setup, scheduling of bands and vendors and the associated costs there is no alternate date,” Wagner wrote.
