The Rocket Classic gets underway today for the seventh edition of Detroit’s PGA Tour event. The field isn’t as strong as golf fans are used to over the past two weeks, but it still boasts five of the top 20 golfers in the world.
Cam Davis enters as the reigning champion and the tournament’s only two-time winner. Rickie Fowler (2023) and Nate Lashley (2019) are the other previous winners who will be back at Detroit Golf Club.
Ben Griffin enters as the highest player in the FedEx Cup standings (sixth), while Collin Morikawa is the highest in the World Golf Ranking (fifth). Keegan Bradley will look to win back-to-back tournaments after his thrilling victory in the Travelers Championship.

Aldrich Potgieter, Kevin Roy break course record at Rocket Classic
Min Woo Lee’s record-tying performance lasted a few short hours. In the afternoon session of the Rocket Classic’s first round, American Kevin Roy and South African Aldrich Potgieter both did him one better, carding 10-under 62s to set a new course record at Detroit Golf Club. Both had bogey-free rounds.
Roy’s was capped by a chip-in eagle on the 17th hole, while Potgieter went 7 under on his first nine (he started at No. 10) with an eagle on the same hole. Potgieter just missed a birdie putt on his final hole that would have given him the outright lead.
Min Woo Lee ties course record
Thanks to three straight birdies to close his opening round, Min Woo Lee tied the course record at Detroit Golf Club with a 9-under 63. The 26-year-old from Australia started on the back nine with a birdie and bogey, then torched his way through the rest of the course, compiling 10 birdies overall.
