Is 2026 4-star LB out of Carthage (TX) trending towards committing to Texas A&M?

Texas A&M is looking to lock down one of the top-ranked linebacker prospects in the 2026 class. Still, the competition is fierce for four-star LB Da’Quives Beck, who will decide between Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and the Aggies on Tuesday, July 1.

While the Sooners and Cowboys have a great chance to land the standout backer, coach Mike Elko and running back coach Trooper Taylor pulled off one of the most significant recruiting wins of the offseason after landing Beck’s Carthage HS teammate, four-star running back KJ Edwards over the Texas Longhorns, which could end up playing a critical role in Beck’s decison.

On paper, Texas A&M’s future at linebacker is in flux, knowing that junior star Taurean York and senior Scooby Williams will depart after the 2025 season, leaving Daymion Sanford, Jordan Lockhart, Tristan Jernigan, Noah Mikhail, and 2026 signee Storm Miller as the primary rotation going into the 2026 season.

Beck has yet to receive an official prediction. Still, according to 247Sports recruiting analyst Mike Roach, Da’Quives Beck remains a favorite to land with the Aggies after KJ Edwards’ commitment, while knowing that he could make an immediate impact as soon as he steps on campus.

“Beck was on the visit alongside his teammate, Edwards, over the weekend and gave good feedback after the trip. With Edwards on board, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Beck join him soon. The Aggies’ defense is a strong fit for a player with his skill set, and the development factor will play a big role.

In the past, when Texas A&M has been at its best, it has identified and landed top prospects out of East Texas. Adding Beck to a class that is among the nation’s elite would only help strengthen the momentum for coach Mike Elko and his staff.”

Nearly half a dozen 2026 commits have shut down their recruitment this summer, proving that Mike Elko and his staff possess elite recruiting skills based around relationship building, trust, and a plan in place for every commit.

During his junior season at Carthage (TX) High School, Beck was named Defensive MVP of the Texas 4A D-II state championship, recording 10 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and one sack in an impressive performance.

According to 247Sports, Beck is currently positioned as the 159th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 9th-ranked linebacker, and the 23rd-ranked prospect in Texas.
