The Cincinnati Bengals have plenty of time before training camp to get the contract drama with Trey Hendrickson resolved.
Things took a turn for the better recently, too, with a new report saying the Bengals and Hendrickson’s camp have started talking again.
By now, Bengals fans know how this goes, though. Until something actually happens, outsiders will continue to suggest Hendrickson trade spots.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox just suggested the Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts as teams that should pick up the phone:
“Two teams that would make a ton of sense are the Indianapolis Colts and the Detroit Lions. Indy lost pass-rusher Dayo Odeyingbo to the Bears in free agency and also happen to employ former Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.
The Lions have long needed a quality second edge-rusher opposite Aidan Hutchinson. They have Marcus Davenport in that role currently, but Hendrickson would be a clear and obvious upgrade.”

Not long before this suggestion, an NFL insider suggested the Seattle Seahawks should call the Bengals about a Hendrickson trade, too.
If the Bengals were to trade Hendrickson (they won’t), they’d probably want to send him to the NFC. Even Germaine Pratt didn’t reunite with Lou Anarumo in Indianapolis after his release.
As always, the fact the Bengals broke character and granted Hendrickson permission to seek a trade, only for one to not happen, doesn’t bode well for a trade materializing now. The asking price is too high, both in terms of what the Bengals want and how much a 30-year-old veteran wants on a new contract, too.
