As the milestones began to pile up for Audrey Durham, so did her confidence.
The Zeeland lacrosse player led the team to one of its best season in program history with her scoring ability and leadership.
The senior midfielder was selected as the Holland Sentinel Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year.
“Audrey is a hard worker, and it shows in the way she plays on the field. She is a great leader and works to make sure every member of the team is included and has a chance to shine,” Zeeland coach Brooke VanderStelt said.
Durham scored 68 goals this season. She also tallied seven assists, 55 ground balls and won 45 draws.
In her career, she passed the 100-goal mark with 115. She was all-conference and the team captain.
“I would say my biggest strength is my versatility, being able to play wherever they need me on the field, I would say my biggest improvement is my confidence on the field,” Durham said. “This season I was able to accomplish all of my personal goals which led me to my career highs off 115 goals and 151 ground balls.”
Zeeland did well this season, but the end was not quite what the team had hoped.
“As a team we weren’t quite where we wanted to be by the end of the season (we were just one win away from beating our best record),” Durham said. “But we played as a team and worked hard till the last game.”
