Five males, ranging in ages from 15 to 33, were arrested earlier June 20 after robbing two women who were sitting in their car in the Peppermint Hippo parking lot in Firestone Park, Akron police Lt. Michael Murphy said in a press release.
Police responded to reports of a robbery in the 1000 block of East Waterloo Road at 3:32 a.m. The victims were reportedly sitting in their car when they were approached by multiple individuals who surrounded their vehicle, Murphy said. One of the suspects brandished a firearm and stole their purses and other items from the backseat of the vehicle.
Officers were able to gather descriptions of the five suspects and subsequently located one of them on South Arlington Road, where he was found with some of the victims’ property. Four other suspects were arrested after they were observed running into an apartment in the 900 block of Barbara Avenue, Murphy said.
The five males were arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. The adult male was transported to Summit County Jail, while the four juveniles are currently being held at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.
