The body of 54-year-old Dennis Blume of Fonda was recovered from Clear Lake around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, according to a news release from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
Authorities were notified of an unoccupied fishing boat circling the lake around 1:30 p.m., the release said. DNR water patrol officers arrived on scene quickly and spoke with witnesses, who had stopped the boat containing the victim’s belongings.
The Clear Lake Fire Department, Ventura Fire Department and the Iowa DNR searched the lake using sonar equipment to locate the body. Underwater drone technology was used to recover the body from the lake.
An investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
