A bridge in the town of Hornellsville will be closed for several months beginning on Monday, June 30, clearing the way for a complete overhaul of the structure, according to the Steuben County Department of Public Works.
Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose said the bridge on Cunningham Creek Road between Windfall Road and county Route 29 (commonly known as the Canisteo-Hornell Back Road) will be closed to all through traffic for approximately 16 weeks, depending on the weather.
There will be no onsite detour, county officials said.
Rose said the existing bridge will be removed and a new concrete box culvert will be built, improving the “safety and longevity” of the bridge.
The span, which moves traffic over Cunningham Creek, is officially designated as Bridge No. 17-29-01 (BIN 2217180).
