FSU lands commitment from 3-star DL James Carrington

Florida State hosted three-star defensive lineman James Carrington over the weekend for an official visit. Things went great between him and the Seminoles, so much so that multiple experts predicted him to land with FSU on Monday.

It didn’t take at all for those predictions to become reality. Via his social media, Carrington announced his commitment to FSU, and he also shut down his recruitment.

Carrington comes to Tallahassee as the nation’s No. 357 overall prospect and the No. 41 defensive lineman per 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-2, 257-pounder is the No. 34 recruit in the state of California as well.

With Carrington’s pledge, Florida State now has 12 commitments in its 2026 recruiting class. He’s also the second defensive lineman of the cycle for the Seminoles as he joins three-star Wihtlley Cadeau out of Atlanta, Georgia.

Carrington is going into his senior year coming off multiple dominant seasons at the high school level. He was named a MaxPreps Sophomore All-American in 2023 when he amassed 33 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Carrington followed it up with 33 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and nine sacks as a junior.

The Seminoles will look to continue landing more commitments from a jam-packed weekend of hosting recruits.
