‘No Kings’ protests will be held Saturday around Monroe County

People across the country are organizing protests on June 14, speaking out against the Trump administration and the policies he is putting in place. This nationwide organized protest is known as “No Kings Day,” and there are plans for local events in the Rochester area on that day.

The “No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance” is in response to the military parade happening in Washington, D.C. The parade is meant to celebrate Flag Day and the Army’s 250th birthday. The parade also coincides with President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.

The $30 million-plus taxpayer-funded parade is set to include heavy tanks, armored vehicles and vehicles towing artillery launchers.

Protests around Rochester

50501 Rochester, a grassroots organization, with the help of organizers from Indivisible Monroe County Resists, are hosting an event at 12 Corners in Brighton on June 14 from 9 a.m to 11 a.m.

Women’s March is hosting grassroots street circuses across the country called “Kick Out the Clowns” as a way to “reflect the absurdity of the MAGA regime and the clowns who lead it.” The event will take place at Women’s Rights National Park in Seneca Falls from 1 p.m to 3 p.m.

Members of Greater Rochester Integrity & Truth are also working on “Un Parade” events around Monroe County, where protestors can sit instead of march.
