The New York Giants’ 2025 regular season schedule has been released and it has been rated the toughest in the NFL strength-wise by experts.
Big Blue will be tested early and often. For a team that is seeking to turn the corner back into contention, they’ll need as many breaks as they can get to do so.
Here is a game-by-game breakdown of the season ahead (note: The Giants’ bye week will be Week 14).
Week 1: at Washington, Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1:00 p.m.
The Commanders had a strong 2024 season, getting to the NFC Championship Game in quarterback Jayden Daniels’ first year. Washington swept the Giants last season with two close wins (21-18 and 27-22) but Big Blue has beefed up on both sides of football this offseason. Washington has added three key players on offense in tackles Laremy Tunsil and first-round draft pick Josh Conerly Jr. along with free agent wide receiver Deebo Samuel. The Giants have countered by adding quarterback Russell Wilson and a slew of defensive starters such as defensive backs Jevon Holland, Paulson Adebo, Abdul Carter, and Darius Alexander.
Prediction: Giants 24, Commanders 23
Week 2: at Dallas, Sunday, Sept. 14 at 1:00 p.m.
The Cowboys have dominated the series the past decade, especially with Dak Prescott under center. He’s back and healthy and has a new weapon (wide receiver George Pickens) to pair with CeeDee Lamb. Dallas is relying on their depth and some rookies to pick up the slack for losing several key veteran starters. Still, the new-look Giants could have less trouble navigating their way here. Dallas no longer has Mike McCarthy as head coach. Brian Schottenheimer is now in charge. Perhaps the tide will turn here with better QB play from the Giants.
Prediction: Giants 27, Cowboys 17
Week 3: vs. Kansas City, Sunday, Sept. 21 at 8:20 p.m.
We called this as one of the Giants’ national appearances. The TV people can’t resist Patrick Mahomes or the New York market. Here they get both. The Chiefs looked tired in getting routed by the Eagles in the Super Bowl and even though they’ve restocked, it’s hard to predict if it was enough. The Giants should be able to give them a game here but it’s hard to pick against Mahomes.
Prediction: Chiefs 23, Giants 20
Week 4: vs. Los Angeles Chargers, Sunday, Sept. 28 at 1:00 p.m.
Year 2 of Jim Harbaugh means trouble for opponents. The Bolts haven’t done anything fancy since their playoff appearance last season but they will be more capable on offense after adding running backs Najee Harris and rookie Omarion Hampton along with rookie wide receivers Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith. The Chargers promise to be physical and give opponents all they can handle. This will be a real test for the Giants but Wilson has been through the wars. He won’t be overwhelmed.
Prediction: Chargers 19, Giants 14
Week 5: at New Orleans, Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1:00 p.m.
The Saints are in transistion with new head coach Kellen Moore without an experienced quarterback in house. Many experts are predicting New Orleans to have the first pick in next year’s draft (Arch Manning perhaps?).
Prediction: Giants 34, Saints 13
Week 6: vs. Philadelphia, Thursday, Oct. 9 at 8:15 p.m.
A primetime game featuring Saquon Barkley & Co. invading East Rutherford. The Giants will be ready this time around. Will it be enough to knock off the champs, though? Hard to see it.
Prediction: Eagles 26, Giants 23
Week 7: at Denver, Sunday, Oct. 19 at 4:00 p.m.
Russell Wilson returns to Denver to face his old team. Not much of a narrative, really, considering he was in Pittsburgh last year. Sean Peyton’s offense with Bo Nix under center should be in full swing. The Giants’ defense is no longer a pushover, though.
Prediction: Giants 27, Broncos 20
Week 8: at Philadelphia, Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1:00 p.m.
A quick rematch with Philly down the turnpike against an opponent they gained some confidence against two weeks before. This time Big Blue prevails.
Prediction: Giants 23, Eagles 16
Week 9: vs. San Francisco, Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1:00 p.m.
The 49ers are in a bit of a transition but they still have enough to make life miserable for opponents, especially if Christian McCaffrey is fully healthy. This game is at home which should give the Giants a little bit of an adavantage.
Prediction: Giants 20, 49ers 17
Week 10: at Chicago, Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1:00 p.m.
Chicago has been loading up the past two seasons and is loaded. If quarterback Caleb Williams lives up to his pedigree in Ben Johnson’s offense, they could be a juggernaut in 2025.
Prediction: Bears 28, Giants 21
Week 11: vs. Green Bay, Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1:00 p.m.
The Packers are still a tough out. They were 11-6 last season and just added another deep threat (wide receiver Matthew Golden) in the draft. The Giants will have their hands full in this one as well.
Prediction: Giants 24, Packers 23
Week 12: at Detroit, Sunday, Nov. 23 at 1:00 p.m.
The Lions will be taking no prisoners this season after falling short of the Super Bowl last year. If the Giants are to win this one, they’ll need to score quite a few points. Even then, there are no guarantees.
Prediction: Lions 38, Giants 31
Week 13: at New England, Monday, Dec. 1 at 8:15 p.m.
The Patriots wil be vastly inproved over last season with quarterback Drake Maye entering his second season and Mike Vrabel in as head coach. This should be another tough battle.
Prediction: Giants 20, Patriots 16
Week 15: vs. Washington, Sunday, Dec. 14 at 1:00 p.m.
If Jayden Daniels is still standing, that means the Commanders are really back. If not, the Giants could be in a position to steal another game here.
Prediction: Giants 19, Commanders 17
Week 16: vs. Minnesota, Sunday, Dec. 21 at 1:00 p.m.
The Vikings will go as far as quarterback J.J. McCarthy will take them. By this time in the season, we’ll know the answer to that. Last year, the Vikings routed the Giants around MetLife. This time should be different.
Prediction: Giants 24, Vikings 14
Week 17: at Las Vegas, Saturday, Dec. 27 at TBD
These are not the same old Raiders. Pete Carroll is in as head coach and Geno Smith is the quarterback. Rookie running back Ashton Jeanty could be a serious ROY candidate.
Prediction: Raiders 28, Giants 24
Week 18: vs. Dallas, Sunday, Jan. 4 at TBD
If Russell Wilson is still the quarterback, the season likely did not go the way the Giants had hoped. Jaxson Dart could debut here if the game is meaningless — if he hasn’t already.
Prediction: Cowboys 23, Giants 20
