Lake Jackson United Methodist Church families are gifting their treasures to help cover expenses of mission and programs, such as an expanding food pantry, which serves over 200 families, including the homeless.
By inviting the public to a yard sale from 8 am.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, the church at 4423 N. Monroe St., the congregation is able to clean their own closets while paying forward the blessings they’ve enjoyed.
Pastor Jill Berquist said, “We believe Jesus’ words that he came to give us life — and give it more abundantly.” On sale are antiques, furniture, appliances, paintings, art, jewelry, china, suitcases, household items, books, games, and clothing for all ages and sizes.
“We invite the community to not only find great bargains for themselves,” said yard sale co-ordinator Jewell Ferguson, “but to consider passing on their gifts as well.”
“All are welcome,” food pantry leader Art Ulrich added, “especially to participate in the ongoing charitable outreach of our community.”
Lake Jackson is an open and affirming congregation, which welcomes all people of all faiths to worship Sundays at 11 a.m.For more information on the yard sale, please email jewellferguson@yahoo.com. For more on the church, please email Pastor Jill Berquist jill.berquist@lake-jackson-umc.org.
