Wisconsin State Fair will feature its tallest ever Ferris wheel during the fair’s Aug. 6-16 dates.
The America 250 Wheel also is connected to the national semiquincentennial celebration this year of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Presented here by Meijer, the America 250 Wheel peaks at 230 feet high. That’s 75 feet taller than the prior Wisconsin State Fair WonderFair Wheel, the fair said in a statement.
“It is the largest portable observation wheel in the world,” the fair stated. When conditions are right, the top of the wheel offers views for as far as 14 miles. That’s four miles further than the WonderFair Wheel, Wisconsin State Fair said.
Each of the wheel’s 45 gondolas, which seat six people each, is themed to one of the individuals who has served as president of the United States. (Also, the new wheel has nine more gondolas than the WonderFair Wheel did, the fair reports.)
The fair is holding a flash sale May 21 only of $5 tickets for the new wheel. During the fair, tickets for wheel rides will be $7.
Wisconsin State Fair takes place Aug. 6-16 at State Fair Park in West Allis.
