Who wants to run your local schools? See who's on suburban Milwaukee ballots

Local school board elections are coming up quickly, and with early voting having started recently, the final countdown to the April 7 general election has begun.

There are no school board seats up for election on the Milwaukee School Board this year.

Here are the districts where there are contested seats.

Arrowhead Union High School District

Three-year terms, three seats

At-large seat

The board’s Merton seat and Stone Bank seat are both up for election too, but Merton seat incumbent Amy Hemmer and Stone Bank seat incumbent Lynn Blazei are both running unopposed.

Cedarburg School District

Referendums

Three suburban Milwaukee school districts are going to referendum April 7:

Glendale-River Hills School District: The district is seeking an additional $5 million per year for four years ($20 million total) for an operational referendum beginning in the 2026-27 school year and ending in the 2029-30 school year.

Lake Country School District: The district is seeking an additional $800,000 per year for four years ($3.2 million total) for an operational referendum beginning in the 2026-27 school year and ending in the 2029-30 school year. Superintendent Chad Schraufnagel has said the district could face dissolution if the referendum doesn’t pass.

Whitefish Bay School District: The district is asking for $135.6 million in a facilities referendum that would fund renovations to Cumberland, Richards elementary schools and Whitefish Bay High School and the construction of a new Whitefish Bay Middle School building.
