Despite trailing 3-0 through three innings, the No. 7 Wisconsin Badgers walked off No. 10 Purdue in the first round of the Big Ten softball tournament.
The Boilermakers gave up a three-spot in the sixth inning thanks to a three-run home run from redshirt freshman Jaclyn Showalter.
Since Wisconsin was the higher seed, they acted as the home team in the first-round matchup. Sophomore Hannah Conger made the most of that with a walk-off single that allowed the Badgers to advance to the quarter-finals.
Now, No. 2 Oregon stands in their way. Wisconsin must win three more games in the Big Ten tournament to be crowned champion, but the Ducks have other plans in mind.
Oregon is a team Wisconsin has yet to face this season. The Ducks were one of four teams to earn a bye in the conference tournament thanks to their stellar 20-4 conference record. UCLA also finished 20-4 in Big Ten play, but the Bruins are the No. 3 seed.
