For the fourth straight year, the Badgers and Buckeyes women’s hockey teams will meet for the national championship at the Frozen Four.
Second-seeded Wisconsin, the reigning national champions, advanced to the final with a heartstopping 4-3 overtime win over Penn State on Friday, March 20, while top-seeded Ohio State cruised into the title game with a 5-0 victory over Northeastern earlier at the Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pennsylvania.
The Badgers own a 2-1 edge in title games over the Buckeyes since 2023; Wisconsin won in 2023 and 2025 and Ohio State won in 2024.
Wisconsin won three of the five matchups with Ohio State this season.

Wisconsin hockey highlights
Kirsten Simms’ goal seconds into a power play and less than a minute into overtime gave the Badgers the win and sent them into the national title game for a fourth straight year.
She had the game-tying and game-winning goals in the national championship game last season.
Simms also had an assist on Laila Edwards’ second goal that tied the game at 2-all in the second period.
Edwards got the Badgers on the board early in the first period to once again tie the game after Penn State took a quick 1-0 lead:
