What we know about Caribou Coffee's plans to close WI Rapids location

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Caribou Coffee will be closing permanently by next week.

Lindsay Bosley, manager of corporate communications for Caribou Coffee, confirmed to a Daily Tribune reporter Feb. 2 the location at 2820 Eighth St. S. in Wisconsin Rapids “will close permanently by next week.”

The Wisconsin Rapids location is currently planning to close starting Feb. 11, Bosley said, although the final days and hours of that location could change based on staffing.

The Caribou Coffee at 151 Division St. N. in Stevens Point will also close with the same approximate timeline.

The Caribou Coffee at 2312 Schofield Ave. in Weston will remain open with no changes to operations, Bosley said.

Bosley said the decision to close locations is never easy, and the company considers many factors before permanently closing a location, although she did not share specific reasons behind closing the Wisconsin Rapids or Stevens Point coffee shops.

As Caribou winds down operations in Wisconsin Rapids, the company will send members additional details via email and encourages them to check their inboxes for more information, Bosley said. If any local members still have Caribou Perks points after next week, they can use them at other locations nationwide or can redeem points for $5 off an online order or free shipping. Guests can still purchase coffee beans online or at local grocery stores, Bosley said.

Caribou Coffee opened in September 2022 in Wisconsin Rapids as the company’s 30th Caribou Cabin, featuring a walk-up window and drive-through with no interior seating.
