Water parks, beaches, pools in the Sheboygan area beat summer's heat

SHEBOYGAN – Wisconsin may not be known for having the hottest summer weather, but this week is going to be a warm one. Good thing area residents know how to cool down.

Especially in Sheboygan, which is known as “Malibu of the Midwest,” there’s plenty of shoreline along Lake Michigan.

But whether you choose to cool off in an indoor pool or hang out along Sheboygan’s lakefront, the area has various options for swimming and summer fun.

Beaches along Lake Michigan and park splash pads are free, but some waterparks and public pools have fees.

Here’s what to know.

Where do I have to pay to cool off in the Sheboygan area?

Quarry beach: People can rent kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Click here to see options and prices at Sheboygan Quarry beach.

Blue Harbor Resort’s Breaker Bay Waterpark: Non-resort guests can purchase Sunday day passes to visit the Blue Harbor Resort’s Breaker Bay Waterpark. Admittance is based on occupancy, and those interested should purchase passes at the waterpark admissions. Non-resort guests should take their own towels.

Sheboygan County YMCA: Daily passes for the Sheboygan County YMCA range vary, depending on age. Pool hours vary throughout the summer around 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Fireman’s Park in Elkhart Lake: Daily entry to Elkhart Lake’s only public beach at Fireman’s Park is $1 for children 12 years old and younger and $4 for adults. It’s open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day.
