USA Triathlon championships lead to road closures in downtown Milwaukee

Drivers should expect some traffic disruptions in Milwaukee this weekend, from Aug. 7-9, as the USA Triathlon national championships return to the city for the eighth time.

The competition begins Friday morning and runs through Sunday afternoon, with more than 4,000 athletes participating. It will include the Sprint and Olympic Distance National Championship and Paratriathlon National Championships.

Here are the road and bridge closures currently planned in Milwaukee this weekend.

City road closures for the USA Triathlon in Milwaukee

The following streets in Milwaukee will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 7 and 4:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 8:

Additionally, there will be access point restrictions to North Lincoln Memorial Drive from East Clybourn Street to North Lake Drive. Affected points are as follows:

Hoan Bridge will be closed

The Daniel W. Hoan Memorial Bridge on Interstate 794 will be closed from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 and 9, as athletes will bike across the bridge as part of triathlon course.
