USA TODAY named its Restaurants of the Year. This Milwaukee favorite made the list

Birch, an acclaimed farm-to-table restaurant in Milwaukee, made USA TODAY’s list of best restaurants in the country.

The USA TODAY Restaurants of the Year 2026 list, released today, features 39 restaurants from fine-dining establishments to roadside burger shacks.

“Great food and hospitality are the core of what we do. These are our guiding principles, and having that recognised means the world to our hard-working team,” chef-owner Kyle Knall said. “We are so proud to represent Wisconsin on this list, as celebrating Midwestern ingredients and cuisine is similarly central to our mission as a restaurant.”

USA TODAY Network food journalists from across the country pooled their expertise to select the list, which includes the places they know, love and recommend.

Birch was chosen for its inventive approach to farm-to-table dining, sourcing ingredients from local farmers and producers while serving artful dishes from its a la carte and chef’s tasting menus.

Here’s more about Birch, including recommended dishes and more that makes it stand out as one of the nation’s best restaurants.
