Officially, the Wisconsin Badgers have the No. 14 overall class of 2028, according to 247Sports.
This football program went all-in on premier class of 2027 talent, and it paid off in a big way as they have a top 25 class for next year as well.
Now, they continue to look ahead to the future after landing interior offensive lineman Brock Barrows.
Barrows announced his commitment late on Tuesday, July 28. He becomes the team’s second 2028 commitment, joining linebacker Cale Britt out of Florida.
Barrows is a Missouri native who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 275 pounds. In an attempt to help re-establish the run game in Madison, it’s going to take big bodies like this in order to do so.
1. Eric Mateos has been an incredible addition to this staff
There isn’t a single person on this staff who was more influential in landing Barrows than the Badgers’ offensive line coach. Eric Mateos met Barrows back at Arkansas, and the three-star IOL told On3’s Evan Flood, “I always had this feeling I was going to play for him.”
While it’s still a few years down the road, that will indeed become a reality for the Lee’s Summit West High Schooler.
2. Badgers 2028 should give 2027 a run for its money
Britt was this team’s first 2028 commitment on July 15, and Barrows committed to UW less than two weeks later.
When looking at the Badgers class of 2027, the earliest commitment came from Wisconsin native Ethan McIntosh on November 12, 2025.
Already, it seems like the 2028 class has a leg up on 2027. Whether or not this momentum continues remains to be seen, but it’s an incredible start to a new era of Badgers football.
