Ronnie Kasey Fuentez, the now-18-year-old man accused in his uncle’s death tied to a domestic incident in Waukesha, will stand trial during three days in February 2026 on felony murder battery charges.
The first day of the trial, Feb. 17, coincides with the first anniversary of Fuentez’s uncle’s death from a brain injury that prosecutors say was the result of a violent quarrel, during which Fuentez allegedly punched him in the head repeatedly with closed fists.
Fuentez was initially charged with battery causing bodily harm after the Feb. 1, 2025, incident.
The felony murder charge was later filed May 29, just days before Fuentez’s initial early June trial date.
The man, whose name and age were not listed in the criminal complaint or available court documents, originally did not seek medical treatment. But he did so four days later after he began having trouble speaking after experiencing what he thought were migraines.
Doctors found he was suffering from brain bleeding. He died 12 days later.
According to the criminal complaint, Fuentez, then 17, and his uncle had argued after the older man wouldn’t allow his nephew’s friend to stay overnight in the apartment they shared in the 1100 block of Delafield Street.
Authorities also charged Fuentez with bail jumping, because he previously had been charged with criminal damage to property and released on the condition that he stay out of legal trouble.
The felony charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, if Fuentez is convicted. Court records indicated he remains in custody in the Waukesha County Jail.
