Topgolf has made its way to Wisconsin.
The entertainment brand that offers multi-level driving ranges and automated scoring technology has made its presence known across more than 100 locations in the United States, and even more globally – but it had yet to make its way to the Badger state.
That is, until now.
Top Golf Madison opened Aug. 14, at 6600 Topgolf Way, near Beltline Highway and Broadway in Monona. According to a news release from Topgolf, the Madison location is a “new prototype” featuring Topgolf’s standard golf games, plus new arcade games, a “reimagined outfield,” and a smart phone-operated hitting bay offering.
“We’re excited to bring Topgolf to the Madison area and make Wisconsin our newest home,” Topgolf CEO David McKillips said in a statement. “Topgolf is the ultimate sports, entertainment and golf destination, making it the perfect place for sports fans and families across the state to play, eat, drink and enjoy some friendly competition with the best social golfing games in the world. And there’s no better time to arrive than right as football season kicks off.”
In a statement, Monona Mayor Nancy Moore said the new Topgolf “will be a terrific recreational and entertainment venue in the Madison area and will be a draw for residents and visitors alike.”
Topgolf offers a golfing experience for both advanced golfers and beginners. Players hit golf balls from a bay, aiming at targets in an outfield, and “Toptracer” technology tracks each ball’s flight, distance and target accuracy. Visitors can practice by themselves or compete against each other in different games. Outside of hitting golf balls, guests can eat and drink, play other games and watch sports on television.
According to the news release, Topgolf Madison will include 72 outdoor, climate-controlled hitting bays, spanning across two levels, as well as a full-service bar and restaurant, outdoor social spaces with yard games, outfield target lighting that is synced to a music-and-light show, private event spaces, game day suites and a 22-foot video wall with more than 100 TV screens.
Topgolf started in the United Kingdom in 2000, before coming to the United States in 2005. The Monona location is Topgolf’s 103rd location in the U.S., with 15 more locations around the world.
In celebration of its grand opening, Topgolf Madison is giving away one year of free game play to one guest who books and completes a one or two-bay reservation from Aug. 14 through Aug. 28.
Topgolf Madison is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m.-11 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.-1 a.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-1 a.m. and Sunday 9 a.m.-12 a.m.
