Woodman’s Food Market in Madison is now temporarily closed after its roof partially collapsed Monday evening.
Video footage from WMTV-TV depicts water pouring through the store’s ceiling as it partially collapses. The incident occurred at the store at 3817 Milwaukee St. on Madison’s east side. The store confirmed no one was injured in the incident, according to a social media post.
“The safety and well-being of our customers, team members, and community is our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the emergency responders, local authorities, and service departments who responded swiftly and professionally. Their timely intervention was critical in securing the area and ensuring everyone’s safety,” the grocery store wrote on social media.
The store is conducting an assessment of the structural damage, working with engineers, contractors and safety officials. However, the store will remain temporarily closed until a full inspection is completed, according to its social media post.
Woodman’s is waiving service charges for online shopping services at the Sun Prairie and Madison West locations. The store will release additional details and updates about the reopening of its east side location on its website and social media.
