The High Note karaoke bar in downtown Milwaukee is temporarily closed due to flooding

The High Note, the popular downtown karaoke bar, has shut down for at least a month, after flooding caused $100,000 in damage.

“Much of our equipment can be replaced with insurance, thankfully, however we are still at a loss,” High Note managers Breanna Derenne and Matthew Schultz said in a post on a GoFundMe page to support employees during the closure, which was blamed on flooding “outside of our control.”

According to the GoFundMe page, they originally thought the bar, at 645 N. Lovell St., would be closed for just a few days. But after inspecting the damage, they estimated it would be closed at least a month, and possibly longer.

A Facebook post about the damage said that several walls will need to be removed and rebuilt.

“See you all soon, with an improved show and a better bar!” the July 21 Facebook post said.

The High Note did not immediately return a request for comment.
