An 81-year-old man was safely rescued after his sailboat capsized in the Bay of Green Bay.
The Suamico Fire Department and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at approximately 3:15 p.m. Aug. 17 that a sailboat had capsized about two miles from shore.
The man who capsized had a cell phone and was able to contact emergency services for help. He was holding onto the hull waiting for rescuers to arrive.
As crews were searching for the man, the man said the waves were increasing, making it difficult for him to remain hanging on to the boat.
Rescue crews located the man, who was safely brought aboard the rescue vessel and returned to shore.
