A 75-year-old Sturgeon Bay woman died after being struck by a car while crossing the street on Aug. 3, according to the Sturgeon Bay Police Department.
Police responded to the incident at 11:03 a.m., Aug 3, at the intersection of South Third Avenue and Michigan Street. The driver of the vehicle, a 73-year-old Sturgeon Bay woman, told police she was watching and waiting on a group people to decide which way to cross at the intersection.
After the group crossed, the driver turned west from South Third Avenue onto Michigan Street. The driver told police she did not see the woman in the south crosswalk, walking from west to east, and hit her.
The woman struck by the vehicle was taken to Door County Medical Center and later transferred to a medical facility in Green Bay, where she died.
