Hearing the word “surgery” could be alarming, but Wisconsin Badgers fans do not need to worry when it comes to Nolan Winter.
Greg Gard’s seven-footer underwent offseason surgery on his right ankle, according to Badgers Extra’s Michael McCleary.
For Winter, this ankle has been bothering him since high school, so the surgery was a long time coming.
“I had to get surgery on an ankle, just tighten some things, repair some things,” he said. “We did that pretty soon after the season ended. We did it early enough to where I’m starting to get back now.”
Winter continued, “It’s been an ongoing thing, ever since high school. I’ve been rolling it quite a bit. Throughout the season, I rolled it a lot during practices and behind closed doors. I’m glad I did that, I think it’ll for sure help.”
Wisconsin has assembled another stellar roster heading into the 2026-27 season, one that features Winter and Austin Rapp as the team’s two premier returnees now that Nick Boyd and John Blackwell have gone their separate ways.
