A 32-year-old Shawano-area man is dead after apparently being struck by a vehicle in the town of Washington, according to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office.
Dispatchers received a call at 4:15 a.m. July 7 from a motorist who said he thought he hit something with his vehicle and found shoes in the roadway on Shawano County HH near Parkwood Drive. The driver said he didn’t know where the person was.
Deputies responded and found a man lying in the ditch, who was unresponsive and not breathing. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was a 38-year-old man from the Keshena area. According to the driver, he was returning home after work in Green Bay.
The investigation indicates the impact took place in the northbound lane of County HH.
The sheriff’s office is not releasing names of those involved at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
