Reckless driver loses control and strikes, kills pedestrian during police chase

Milwaukee police arrested a 35-year-old man Monday night who lost control of his car and struck and killed a 55-year-old pedestrian during a pursuit.

The incident began around 8:28 p.m. on July 14 when officers saw the 35-year-old driving recklessly and attempted to make a stop, according to a news release from the Milwaukee police department. The driver refused to stop, and the officers chased after him.

The pursuit, which started in the 3700 block of West Fond Du Lac Ave., ended half a mile away in the area of West Fond Du Lac Ave. and North Sherman Blvd., when the driver lost control and struck the 55-year-old pedestrian, along with a bus shelter and two parked cars.

The 35-year-old was arrested and transported to a hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries.
