The Green Bay Packers posted the highlight of Jordan Love’s touchdown pass to Christian Watson during Wednesday’s opening practice of training camp.
While the Packers have historically been hesitant to provide clips from practices, the team has been more willing to show highlights in recent years, and the camera angle of this particular highlight does not give away anything important schematically.
Here’s the touchdown pass from Love to Watson:
The play featured Love under center and executing a play-action run fake. Watson sprung open from the coverage of Carrington Valentine and was wide open on a crossing route in the red zone.
Covering Watson’s speed on crossers is a tough ask for anyone. And Love’s throw to an open receiver was perfect. The result was a highlight play during the first practice since Watson signed a contract extension with the Packers.
