The Green Bay Packers placed wide receiver Jayden Reed — who had surgery to fix a broken collarbone and foot injury earlier this week — on injured reserve on Saturday.
Reed suffered the foot injury early in training camp and the broken collarbone during last Thursday night’s win over the Washington Commanders. The collarbone required surgery to repair, giving Reed an opportunity to also fix his ailing foot.
The Packers did not make a corresponding roster addition and now have two open roster spots after placing both Reed and defensive end Brenton Cox Jr. on injured reserve over the last two weeks. With only 51 players on the 53-man roster, the Packers will only need to make three players inactive for Sunday’s showdown with the Cleveland Browns.
The team’s leading receiver each of the last two seasons, Reed will have to miss at least four games while he’s on injured reserve, but his current recovery timeline suggest he’ll be out until some point in November.
Reed caught three passes for 45 yards and a touchdown across 23 snaps and two games to start the 2025 season. He was injured on the first drive of the Packers’ Week 2 win.
The current receivers on the Packers active roster are Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, Matthew Golden, Savion Williams and Malik Heath. Veteran Mecole Hardman and rookies Will Sheppard and Isaiah Neyor are available on the practice squad.
