A couple of important injury updates for the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday: wide receiver Christian Watson sounds like he expects to play through a chest/shoulder injury on Saturday against the Chicago Bears, while safety Evan Williams has a sprained MCL in his knee and is considered day to day, although his status for Saturday is much less clear.
Per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Watson said he’s “feeling pretty good” coming out of Wednesday’s practice and he thinks “it’ll be alright for the game,” suggesting he will attempt to play through the injury on Saturday.
Per Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Watson went to a Denver area hospital after suffering the injury on Sunday to check for dislocated ribs. He was cleared and flew home with the team on Sunday night.
Also from Schneidman, Williams injured his MCL on the same play Micah Parsons tore his ACL on Sunday at Denver. He is considering himself “day to day” and will play if he thinks he’s physically capable of going on Saturday. It’s possible he’ll need to practice on Thursday to have a realistic chance to go against the Bears.
Watson practiced on Wednesday; Williams did not.
There has been no solid update on right tackle Zach Tom, who suffered a knee injury in Denver and has not practiced each of the last two days. Coach Matt LaFleur said he would be in the group of players who will be given the week to see if they can go on Saturday.
The final Week 16 injury report for the Packers arrives Thursday afternoon.
