GREEN BAY – On the first day of practice this week, the Green Bay Packers saw the return of receiver Christian Watson who injured his shoulder and chest on Dec. 14 against the Denver Broncos. Several others missed the Dec. 17 practice.

Packers’ Dec. 17 injury report

According to the team’s latest injury report, seven players didn’t participate in practice Dec. 17.

Chris Brooks (chest), Darian Kinnard (neck), Collin Oliver (IR/hamstring), Lukas Van Ness (foot), Christian Watson (chest/shoulder), Dontayvion Wicks (ankle), John Williams (IR/back) and Savion Williams (foot) were limited participants in practice.

Josh Jacobs injury update

Packers running back Josh Jacobs was held out of practice as he’s battling a knee injury.

Jacobs re-injured his knee taking a hit early against the Broncos but played the entire game, scoring on a 40-yard run and 14-yard catch.

Jacobs told reporters he intends to play against the Chicago Bears on Saturday night, Dec. 20.

“If it’s up to me, for sure, I’m going to try to go,” he said Dec. 16.

Jayden Reed injury update

Packers receiver Jayden Reed was absent from practice because of a personal matter, not injury related.

Reed, who missed 10 games after having surgery on his foot and collarbone, has played the past two games. He has a combined nine catches for 86 yards and two carries for 22 yards in those contests.

Evan Williams injury update

Packers safety Evan Williams was held out of practice after injuring his knee in the Denver game.

Williams, who was injured on the same play Micah Parsons got hurt, will be given all week to see if he can play against the Bears. He told PackersNews after the game he didn’t think it was serious.

Zach Tom injury update

Packers right tackle Zach Tom didn’t participate in practice.

Tom left in the second quarter against the Broncos after injuring his right knee while pass blocking on Jacobs’ receiving touchdown. He told PackersNews after the game there didn’t appear to be any structural damage.

Josh Whyle injury update

Packers tight end Josh Whyle was held out of practice.

Whyle left the game against the Broncos on the Packers’ first drive with a concussion.

Whyle took a big hit from the Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga while lead blocking on a run play for Jacobs.

Lukas Van Ness injury update

Packers defensive end Lukas Van Ness was back at practice.

Van Ness, who would’ve been estimated as a non-participant on Dec. 16, is still battling a foot injury but played against the Broncos and had two solo tackles on 22 snaps.

Dontayvion Wicks injury update

Packers receiver Dontavyion Wicks, who was listed as a non-participant in Dec. 16’s walk-through practice, was present Dec. 17.

Wicks played 28 snaps in the Denver game and had one reception for six yards.

Micah Parsons injury update

Packers defensive end Micah Parsons was not present for practice as he will soon be placed on injured reserve. The star edge rusher tore an ACL during the team’s game in Denver.

Updates on Brenton Cox Jr., Collin Oliver, John Williams and MarShawn Lloyd

Brenton Cox Jr. and Collin Oliver participated in practice. Their practice windows opened Dec. 1.

Rookie offensive lineman John Williams was at practice Dec. 17, officially opening his practice window. He can get three weeks of practice in after missing camp and the season with a back injury.

MarShawn Lloyd was held out and likely is out for the season after suffering a hamstring injury last week. When asked about it Dec. 16, LaFleur implied Lloyd’s season is over as the Packers have until Dec. 22 to decide if they want to activate him to the roster.
