OSHKOSH – Oshkosh’s growing mural scene is about to welcome another piece of public art.
Fox Valley Technical College will be home to the city’s latest visual story as nationally recognized artist Nick Goettling paints a new public mural at the riverside campus alongside students, alumni and staff.
FVTC announced the project in a news release, saying it reflects the college’s commitment to preparing students for careers while strengthening ties with the community.

Commissioned through Discover Oshkosh, the mural will transform a prominent exterior wall at the college’s Oshkosh campus and join a growing collection of murals along the riverfront as part of a Riverwalk public art initiative.
The mural is inspired by the Fox River and FVTC programs offered in Oshkosh, with the design highlighting the connection between the city’s industrial roots and today’s skilled workforce, according to the release.
The mural will be the third piece of public art painted in Wisconsin by Goettling, an award-winning artist known for creating work that reflects a community’s history, character and aspirations.
The project follows another mural Discover Oshkosh commissioned in October along the back wall of the Cummins plant at 1005 High Ave.
Painted by visual artist Mauricio Ramirez, who also created a Giannis Antetokounmpo mural in Milwaukee, the 1,000-foot-long piece is the largest public artwork in Wisconsin.
More Oshkosh murals are planned along the Riverwalk and at Menominee Park
The murals are part of a broader Discover Oshkosh effort to encourage residents and visitors to explore the city’s 11 miles of riverwalk trails.
Discover Oshkosh’s placemaking initiative also is expected to include a future Spirit of Aviation mural on the south-facing wall of the 100 N. Main St. building and murals at Menominee Park.
They will add to Oshkosh’s growing mural scene, which includes public art at 1009 S. Main St., 571 N. Main St., 219 State St., 440 N. Main St., 110 Algoma Blvd., 525 N. Main St., 401 N. Main St. and 103 High Ave.
