A new sports facility in Saukville will have its grand opening Friday, May 30.
A ribbon cutting for Gateway Sports Academy will be at 4 p.m. while the grand opening activities will be from 5 to 8 p.m.
The facility will have year-round sports and fitness programming, adult leagues, open gym, birthday parties, summer camps, a community youth program, court rentals and basketball and volleyball tournaments, according to a news release from Ansay Development Corporation, the project’s developer.
Gateway Sports Academy is a part of Mel’s Village, a new development in Saukville which creates a walkable community offering amenities, activities and events that cater to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Other amenities being developed for Mel’s Village include a public plaza with a splash pad and bandshell, Anita’s Gardens assisted living facility, and multi-family and townhouse units where 25% of the apartments will be designated for high-functioning IDD adults.
What is planned for Gateway Sports Academy grand opening?
After opening remarks, the grand opening will feature former NBA player/Milwaukee Bucks television analyst Steve Novak’s “2s, Frees & 3s” basketball shooting competition, an open gym, $10 shooting cage sessions, Mel’s Charities Food Truck and a DJ.
