FOND DU LAC – One of Fond du Lac’s favorite bakeries has closed its doors.
Mix It Up Bakery, 64 N. Main St., sold its last baked goods Aug. 2 before owners Scott and Jeanne Page retired.
According to the Mix It Up Bakery Facebook page, community members turned up in droves for the last few days, selling out thousands of donuts each day to get one last fix from the popular bakery.
“We want to publicly thank our wonderful staff both present and past that have worked so hard with us from production staff to customer service employees,” Jeanne Page wrote in the closing announcement. “We are very thankful for all the customers who have enjoyed our bakery products over the past eleven years.”
The Pages opened Mix It Up in 2015, taking their retail experiences in family and grocery store bakeries to bring Fond du Lac fresh, handmade baked goods, “the way it was done 50-plus years ago,” they said at the time.
Soon after Mix It Up opened, word of mouth spread and customers quickly made it a favorite weekend stop for donuts, cupcakes, bread and seasonal goods.
“Scott and Jeanne brought their vision to Main Street and turned it into something truly special,” Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership wrote in a Facebook post honoring the Pages. “Their passion, hard work and delicious creations have made a lasting impact on our downtown and everyone who stepped through their doors.”
According to the Zellner Real Estate listing, the corner bakery is still for sale at $449,000, including the property, the Mix It Up name, equipment, and more.
