Two Rivers offers free clean fill at Sandy Bay Highlands
The city of Two Rivers has about 17,500 cubic yards of clean fill available free at Sandy Bay Highlands. The material, estimated to be 90% to 95% clay, is available to homeowners, contractors, landscapers, excavators and construction companies.
Recipients must dig and haul the material themselves during daylight hours. Topsoil stockpiles are not included. Those seeking larger quantities should contact the city manager’s office at 920-793-5532 to coordinate access and logistics.

A.C.E. Building Service of Manitowoc has been named a 2026 Top Metal Builder by Metal Construction News, which annually recognizes the top 100 metal contractors and erectors in North America. It is the fifth time the company has made the list.
The company ranked No. 66 nationally in tonnage at 711 tons, up from 491 a year earlier, and No. 68 in square footage at 163,289 square feet, up from 85,720 in 2025.
Manitowoc reminds residents to keep grass out of streets
The city of Manitowoc is reminding residents to keep grass clippings and other yard waste out of streets and alleys. Residents should direct mowers and blowers away from the road and clean up any debris that reaches the street.
Yard waste can wash into storm drains, where it decomposes and adds nutrients to waterways, reducing water quality. The city said debris also can clog storm pipes, contribute to flooding and increase costs when street sweepers collect grass that must be sent to a landfill.
Manitowoc urges careful lawn chemical use
The city of Manitowoc is reminding residents to use fertilizers and herbicides sparingly and keep them off sidewalks and streets. Officials said lawn chemicals can wash into storm drains and contribute to algae growth in lakes and streams.
Residents are encouraged to test soil before buying products, fertilize in the fall and sweep any excess from pavement. The city also urged people using herbicides to follow label directions and post notices because some neighbors may be sensitive to lawn chemicals.
