SHEBOYGAN – Liz Majerus has been appointed city attorney, becoming the first woman to hold the position.
Majerus has served as deputy city attorney since 2022. She first joined City of Sheboygan in 2017 as a part-time municipal prosecutor before moving to a full-time position in the City of Manitowoc’s attorney’s office and then returning to her role in Sheboygan in 2022.
Majerus replaces Charles Adams, who retired April 11 after serving since 2015. His retirement came after a third-party report about his conduct and performance was shared with the city’s Common Council in March.
Who is Sheboygan’s new city attorney, Liz Majerus?
A Wisconsin native, Majerus earned a degree in political science and public policy from UW-Stevens Point and a Juris Doctorate degree from Marquette Law School in 2013.
Majerus began her legal career as a criminal traffic defense attorney before transitioning to a role in local government. She is current president of the Sheboygan County Bar Association and has been an active member with the League of Municipalities, serving as an author and speaker on the challenges and issues facing local governments today.
The city, in a news release, noted the following appearances and publications for Majerus:
