LCL's Max Zastrow wins Piggly Wiggly high school athlete of the week

Max Zastrow of Lake Country Lutheran boys golf was the winner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Piggly Wiggly high school athlete of the week poll from May 18 to May 23.

The junior led a team title for LCL in the Midwest Classic Conference championship meet with an event medalist score of 70 to lead a team effort of 303 strokes.

Zastrow received 37,900 of 82,818 total votes cast.

Ava Nowak of Franklin softball was the runner-up in last week’s poll. In one of the wildest games of the season, Franklin defeated Wisconsin Lutheran 16-14 on May 20. The freshman Nowak tallied three hits in four at-bats, including a double, with a game high and a career high of four runs batted in.

Other nominees included Elladie Naylor of Oconomowoc girls lacrosse, Hayes Packee of Marquette boys golf and Jonathan Amtmann of Arrowhead boys golf.
