Khris Middleton to the Heat, too? The speculation has started

Is Khris Middleton going to end up in Miami, too?

On June 23, the morning after the news that the Milwaukee Bucks traded Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat, NBA insider Brian Windhorst said on the the Hoop Collective podcast that he’s heard that Middleton to the Heat might be a possibility.

“One guy that I already heard attached to them is Khris Middleton, who obviously [has] a long history with Giannis and Bobby Portis,” Windhorst said. “I don’t know what Middleton’s going to give you but … there will be some type of signs that they could do that.”

Middleton, a fan favorite who turns 35 in August, spent nearly 11 seasons with the Bucks, teaming with Giannis in winning the NBA title in 2021.

After averaging 17 points, five rebounds and four assists per game in Milwaukee, he was traded to Washington in February 2025. He was dealt again in February 2026 to Dallas and averaged 10.2 points per game between the two teams last season.

Windhorst went on to say that it might take some time for the Heat to rebuild their roster post-trade.

“The reality is this – when you make a trade like this, you may not be at your best in year 1,” he said. “It may take them a while. It’s almost like a free-agent move. It may take them a while to build their roster back up. But look, they have Bam [Adebayo], they have Giannis. Those are two elite talents.”
