It’s official: Ed Sheeran is going to “Play” Summerfest.
The pop superstar will perform at the Milwaukee festival’s American Family Insurance Amphitheater June 25. It’s Summerfest’s largest venue, with a 23,000-person capacity, but an underplay for Sheeran who’s been regularly filling up larger stadiums around the world.
That includes the Milwaukee Brewers stadium in 2018 (when it was known as Miller Park), a sold-out show that caused major traffic issues, part of the one of the top-grossing tours in the world that year (and on the Journal Sentinel’s best concerts list of the year). He’s released five albums in the years since, including his latest, “Play,” that arrived Sept. 12.
On Sept. 13, Sheeran played a surprise show in New York where he revealed plans to announce a U.S. stadium tour next spring through fall. Then on Sept. 17, Summerfest all but confirmed a Sheeran tour date with a 10-second video teaser on its social media pages of changing cassette tapes with Sheeran song titles and lyrics scribbled on them.
Tickets for Sheeran’s Summerfest show go on sale 10 a.m. Sept. 26 at the box office (200 N. Harbor Dr.) and summerfest.com. Prices have yet to be announced but will include Summerfest general admission June 25.
Summerfest will return June 18 to 20, June 25 to 27 and July 2 to 4, but the Big Gig festivities will start early in 2026.
Country superstar Garth Brooks will play the amphitheater June 16 and 17. Tickets for the show on the 17th are sold out, but some remain for June 16 for $154.20 to $1,205.95. Each Garth Brooks ticket includes a single day Summerfest 2026 general admission ticket.
